Reading the paper with daddy.
We have had the best weekend, as always. Saturday morning we got up and took Ella to get her haircut and buy some new shoes. This is the third weekend I have tried to find shoes for Ella with no luck. Ella is very particular about how the shoes feel on her feet. The shoe can not go between her toes, it can not go over her feet like a slide sandal, the sole can not be hard at all, and it can not be leather unless she is going to wear shocks. I know for a 2 year old this sounds crazy, but I thought I might go crazy looking for the perfect shoe as well. Finally, we did find a pink mesh shoe with flowers all over it. The sole is soft and it is kind of a sandal, but not open toed. At this point, the shoes could have cost $100.00 and I would have bought them. I hope as she gets older she will not be so particular about her feet, but based on Ella's personality, I seriously doubt it.
Brad and I thought it would be fun to take her to a hibachi style restaurant Saturday night. As much as she likes to watch people and noises we thought for sure she would like it. WE WERE SO WRONG. However, we were able to move to a regular table.
Sunday was Ella's favorite day. Lately she has wanted to go to the grocery store with me so she can ride in the cart with the toy car connected to it. (She also loves the free cookie.) Today, as we were walking in the store Brad and I noticed a fire truck. Ella started flipping out saying "fire truck, fire truck"! We walked over and the firemen were so nice. They asked if Ella would like to sit in the truck? Of course she would! Brad put her in the truck and she loved it. As we were leaving they also gave her a toy fire hat to wear. She has not taken the hat off since. That afternoon we took Ella to the pool for the first time this year and she loved that too. The child has no fear though. She continually ducked her head under water every time she saw a toy at the bottom of the pool she wanted. We have to watch her like a hawk or she would dive right in. I guess it is time for swim lessons.
