Wedding Weekend

Brad with his princess.

Brad and I left on Thursday night to make the journey to Augusta. We stopped in Knoxville which is a little less than halfway. That part of the trip was easy. Ella slept most of the way. Friday morning we got up to make the last 5hours and that part was not so easy. Ella must have screamed for 2 hours straight. The thing is, once we got there it was all worth it. It is just part of it when you live away from family.

We finally arrived on Friday around 3pm and the festivities began. Ben and Megan had a very nice rehearsal and the food was excellent. Ella enjoyed running up and down the aisles at the church so we were sure she would make it down the aisle, but the temperament of a 17month old can change very quickly.

Saturday afternoon the boys went to play golf and Ella and I hung out with Susie, Bill, Peggy, and her sister and husband. Ella showed all of her tricks at the restaurant. She is the most precious little girl I have ever seen. She made a little friend in the restaurant and we joked because she lead the pack. She had to be the leader of the line, and the little girls had to follow her. Hmmm, I wonder who she got that from. Both Brad and I, I guess. That scares me a little bit, but I have always expected to have a strong-willed child. Always a leader, never a follower, which is what I was taught.
The wedding was Saturday night and it was a beautiful ceremony and the reception was just as nice. Bill and Susie were nice enough to get us a sitter so we were able to take Ella back after the wedding and enjoy ourselves. Ella did not make it down the aisle alone. I walked her down and then saw 2 seconds of the ceremony before I had to take her out. My worst pet peeve is when parents sit through a ceremony while their child is acting up. I was not going to be that person. I really hate I could not see the wedding, but I know it was perfect. Ben and Megan are a couple that is truly in love and understands the wedding is only a day and the important part of a marriage is each day there after. I know they will be great together.

Sunday afternoon we headed back to Knoxville and visited with my grandparents, mom and dad. Dad is doing well. Getting around good and looks great. Ella showed off for him as well. Mom cooked an awesome Sunday dinner. Something about being home on Sunday night and having dinner is so nice. Ella had all of her favorite foods of course and so did I. Mom even got me cupcakes for my birthday next week.
Thanks to Bill and Susie for having us. I was a perfect weekend.
